The City and The City<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n

The mapped outlines of walls dividing some people from others, whites from non-whites, the rich from the poor, the strong from the weak, became the subject of the series The City and The City<\/i>(2023\u201324). Their background consists of abstract watercolour maps. Broadly speaking, walls can be divided into two categories: those that separate people who have lived next to one another for a long time, and those designed to stop migration. This series focuses on walls within cities, that is, walls that primarily divide neighbours. The paintings in Walking Through Walls <\/i>\u00a0are based on a map of a military operation in the city of Nablus, which involved moving through the walls of the city. These works form a counterpoint to both the subject of the series and the idea of the wall as a permanent barrier.<\/p>\n

Walls separating states and border barriers will be the subject of the second series, Borderlines<\/i>.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n
